Project Description

Neon Noir is a Murder Mystery, Narrative-focused, social, and hybrid experience for mobile and PC.

Game Flow

Introduction Phase

Players are introduced to the world setting, choose their characters, read their character's backstory, and introduce themselves to the group.

Investigation Phase

Players tap on their phones to move between areas and investigate, searching for clues and solving puzzles.

Discussion Phase

Players discuss the clues they've collected and collaborate on puzzles to unlock new clues and areas.

Accusation Phase

After several rounds of investigation and discussion, players accuse one person of being the murderer. The outcome depends on whether the answer is correct.

Technical Implementation

Platform

Built with Unity as the primary game engine.

Multiplayer

Used Photon Pun plugin to implement multiplayer gameplay, enabling real-time interaction between PC and mobile players.

Web Delivery

Leveraged WebGL to support browser-based play experience.

My Responsibilities

Responsible for designing and developing core game logic, including the multiplayer investigation and bag systems.

Investigation Mechanics

  • Collect clues and solve puzzles within each memory
  • Teleport between different memories

Bag System

  • A bag system that saves clues and puzzles
  • Allows players to view clues and interact with puzzles
  • A puzzle transfer feature that lets players send puzzles to each other

Detective Board

  • Share selected clues to the detective board
  • Hover to open detailed clue information
